First Impression

When I received my Ratpad, I ripped open the packaging, of course. Inside I find a black mouse pad with the word "Ratpadz.com" in the upper right corner. I immediately slap it down, replacing my old conventional mouse pad. I then put my Microsoft Intellieye Explorer on the Ratpad (be careful, if you don't put the mouse on the Ratpad, you may have unexpected results.) I move the mouse. "Uhhh, is this mouse even touching the Ratpad?" This thing is so darn smooth you don't know you're not using it in midair. I was simply amazed - I knew this would be my mouse pad for a while. I fire up a game of Tribes and Counterstrike. I suppose Brian Burke (from 3dfx) puts it best… "I was very skeptical that a mouse pad could a make a very big difference in games. Then I tried one of the RatPadz.... I was wrong." Also, pay attention to Alf Covey of 3dfx… "Not only does it look cool on my desk, but my mouse action went from restricted and jerky to roomy and ultra-smooth... it was almost like getting more DPI out of nowhere!" If 3dfx staff likes this pad, then its simply has to rock!

The Dreaded Ratpad Wear

After about two months of steady use, and taking it on vacation for my laptop, I started to notice some wear. Wear is a bad thing. I notice in the left part of the pad a drag is noticed. It is a very minor offset. The wear is nothing to be concerned about, it does not reduce your ability to use the Ratpad. This thing is the best mouse pad there is! I don't know how you did it, but you sure did a great job of it! Amazing! Great job Ratpadz!

Conclusion

Pros: The smoothest mosuepad there is, extra large. Great for standard and optical mice.
Cons: Wear after several months of use.
